Hi Everyone

This is just a reminder that the summer walk is this Sunday followed by a cream tea and cakes.f The walk will start at 2pm and everyone is welcome. If you don’t fancy the walk do come along and have a cream tea.

It is unlikely the Bingo evening will proceed as we have only a few people reply. We will have another attempt at Bingo in October and if nobody is interested then we will
Forget it.

Best wishes

Hi Everyone,

The Summer Walk is on Sunday the 17th September followed by a cream tea. It starts at 2pm and Children and dogs are all welcome. If you don’t fancy the walk do come along and have a cream tea.

We are planning to have a trial bingo evening on Friday the 22nd September. We really need to have replies from people who are going to come. If we don’t reach 30 people it will not be viable to proceed.
Please get in touch so that we can start organising it. Jimmy Hill will be taking the first two sessions and showing us the ropes and hopefully if we get enough support we could hold regular sessions.
You can reply to this email or phone me on 01626 863967

Hope we can get enough to attend - it should be really good fun!

Best wishes

Just seen mikes Facebook post . Thought we should share this.
5th August - Just outside telephone exchange. Altercation with them, clearly not local, refused to reverse, got abusive. We wondered whether they were casing the joint so to speak.

Hi all. Just let you know that there were some suspicious characters acting a little strange in a large white transit type van at 4:30am last night outside our house on port road. I would advise all to ensure all sheds etc are locked. ... See MoreSee Less

Here are some dates for events at Mamhead Village Hall. Sunday August 20th is the Beer and BBQ and possibly skittles for those who want to play.
It will start at 2pm and everyone is welcome

We will be catering for vegetarians and coeliacs but will need to know your requirements. If you can come will you please reply to this email or phone me on 01626 863967 so that we have some idea of numbers. We will have Yellow Hammer real ale on offer, and obviously wine e.t.c for non ale drinkers.

September 17th is the summer walk followed by a cream tea and will start at 2pm. Hopefully lots of you will come but if you don’t fancy the walk do come and have a cream tea and keep me company until the walkers get back.

We are going to have two trial Bingo evenings. The first one is to be held on Friday 22nd September and Jimmy Hill is going to be the caller!! The second one is on Friday 27th October with Jimmy. To make this viable we really do need to know how many people will attend, so please let me know if you are interested. If it is successful we will hold one every month or so, more news to follow.

A pudding club has been suggested for 6th October and I would like to know how many people would participate in this and any ideas from you would be very welcome, Do let me know if you think this would be a good idea and well supported.
That’s all for now folks hope to see lots of you at these events
Best wishes

There have been two sightings of polecats in Mamhead this month. The polecat, a member of the stoat and badge family, is making a remarkable recovery after being persecuted almost to extinction. In 1915 they had been driven into small area of Wales and the very north of Scotland. It is now legally protected and its comeback is a big success story.
They have been spotted in Devon and in the Teignbridge area for some time now. They tend to be nocturnal and are easily recognised by their black and white ‘bandit’ faces and rounded ears. They are the size of a small cat with a bushy tail. In shape they are similar to mink but the black and white face of the polecat makes it easily recognisable. The domesticated ferret was bred from polecats about 2000 years ago.
The two local sightings were around 10 and 11pm. One was in Port Road and the other was a sighting of two polecats near the telephone exchange. In both cases they were in the road and were easily seen and in car headlights.

Hi, I would like to know if anyone might be interested in a new beginners aerobics class at Mamhead hall?
Also, an indication of your preferred class times..... I could possibly run this class on either:
Friday's- any time
Tuesday's from 7pm
Sundays - any time

Also if someone could let me know who I need to speak to about booking the hall.
